Nor-Grape
Features
Nor-Grape® BP-O is a premix of additives composed of encapsulated natural grape extracts, whose polyphenol content and antioxidant activity are protected against rumen fermentation.
- Contains grape extracts standardized in polyphenols
- Provides physiologically soluble antioxidants
- Combined with up to 50% vitamin E, provides physiological antioxidant activity equivalent to 100% vitamin E
- 100% natural
- Can be used in organic farming in Europe
The grape polyphenols contained in Nor-Grape® BP-O allow to:
- Compensate oxidative stress
- Improve the quality of meat
- Improve the quality of milk
Issues
Oxidative stress is a phenomenon caused by an instability of the oxidative balance in favor of free radicals. It can have important sanitary, zootechnical and economic repercussions in breeding.
In ruminants, oxidative stress is particularly frequent around calving, during periods of thermal stress, at weaning or any other period of stress during animal husbandry. Oxidative stress can also have an important impact on meat quality.
Composition
Nor-Grape® BP-O is composed of Vitis vinifera grape extract standardized in total polyphenols and on 4 specific phyto markers. These strict control procedures give it a constant and unique antioxidant activity.
This extract is registered in the European Register of Feed Additives as Grape Extract Dry (2b485) and formulated on a wax and natural fatty acid carrier to protect it from ruminal fermentation.

Trial results
The benefits of Nor-Grape® BP-O supplementation have been documented through numerous in vitro and in vivo trials.
In this trial conducted with the Nantes Veterinary School (ONIRIS, France), 2 groups of 11 heifers aged 6 to 8 months were supplemented with 670mg of Nor-Grape® BPO /heifer/day for 7 weeks during vaccination against PI3V and BRSV (2 injections).
In this trial, we measured a 44% higher antioxidant activity in the serum of heifers supplemented with Nor-Grape® BP-O in comparison with those of the control group. These data were published in the journal Veterinary and Animal Science volume 15 (Engler et al., 2022)
Increase of antioxidant defenses in cow serum
Usage
Mode of action
The polyphenols contained in Nor-Grape® BP-O have a complete antioxidant activity that has been demonstrated in numerous trials.
These polyphenols act at different levels of the antioxidant system:
-
1
Regeneration of vitamins E and C
-
2
Induction of antioxidant enzyme production
-
3
Neutralization of free radicals
Various applications
For ruminants
- Around calving
- At weaning
- To improve meat quality
- In case of heat stress
- Other types of stress
